Japanese cuisine, undoubtedly one of the healthiest and most interesting diets in the world, is renowned for its visual appeal, and the fare at Satowa Kitchen is no exception. Mr Kiyoshi Yasukawa, 53, opened Satowa Kitchen, named after his wife, in September last year.
Like many of Singapore’s restaurants, Satowa Kitchen bridges different cultures with its Asian demeanour, European accents and Singaporean dining sensibilities which isn’t a bad thing at all.
Whet your appetite with the traditional Japanese starters of the Mozuku to Ebi no Su-no-mono seaweed and shrimp in vinegar, and the Okara no Itame-mono stir-fried soybean remains with various fresh vegetables. Experience the rich heritage of Japanese culture with dishes such as the Shinoda-maki, which consists of minced chicken wrapped with fried Japanese bean curd, and the Wagaya no Guratan, which is Japanese tuna gratin done in Satowa Kitchen style and flavoured with mayonnaise. Try something out of the ordinary and have a go at the Buta no Kaku-ni to Konbu no Taki-awase, which consists of stewed pork chop with seaweed, a Japanese style bak kut teh. Desserts that leave a sweet taste on your lips, such as the Mizu Yokan red bean paste jelly, and the Yuzu Shabetto citron sherbet, make for a nice ending to your meal.
