Red Star Restaurant is a middle-class restaurant started jointly by four top Singapore chefs in the 70′s, managed by Master Chef Tan Rui Jia. Tan Rui Jia has since passed away, but his philosophy of economical, value-for-money, and tasty food lives on in Red Star.
Renowned for their delicious dim sum that is served off pushcarts in the traditional way, Red Star Restaurant is the place to go for authentic Cantonese cuisine at a good price.
It offers a mind-boggling 90 types of dim sum on its menu and is one of very few restaurants here that continues to wheel its wares on trolleys around the dining floor. You must not miss their Steamed Fish Head with Black Bean Sauce, Deep Fried Soon Hock, Fried Yam Pots filled with Scallops, Prawns and Cashew Nuts, and Mandarin Chicken.
